During pregnancy the vulva and labia majora increase in size and stretch to the limit during vaginal birth. The skin remains elongated and some of the connective tissue may be broken so the skin appears to be lax and loose. After being torn, stretched and sometimes cut during the delivery, it is very hard for the vulva to return to its pre-delivery form.
This unsightly condition may be visible under tight clothing or a bathing suit, and may cause excessive sweating and moisture accumulation. The droopy labia majora can become even more lax with age or after a weight loss, repeated childbirth or post bariatric surgery.
Dr. Cappiello can eliminate some of the droopy skin and transfer some fresh fat to give the appearance of a more youthful labia majora. Labiaplasty on the labia majora is done in the surgery suite under local anesthesia. The postoperative pain is minimal but the results are long-lasting and dramatic. The tiny scar is barely visible and will fade with time.
