Cosmetic surgery in the genital area has always been performed for men. Men have always had cosmetic genital surgery under the form of circumcision, alteration of the length of the penis by cutting the suspensatory ligament, alteration of the girth by the fat transfer injections, reduction of the scrotal sac and even shaving the hair around the genitalia.
I am always amazed why the very thought of cosmetic gynecological surgery sounds strange and unnatural. Why this double standard? It is absolutely not absurd for a woman to restore her genitalia to her post-virginal and pre-childbirth state. American women, like their European sisters, should restore, improve, and beautify the vagina and the structures around the vagina especially after childbirth. The vagina very much defines a woman’s sexuality, childbearing capacity and femininity. A woman consents to the sexual act after serious consideration by inviting the partner “in”. After this first sexual encounter the vagina is never again the same.
With a vaginal delivery, the vagina and perineum is altered not only cosmetically but also functionally. After childbirth the vagina, vaginal opening, labia majora, labia minora, perineum, rectum, bladder, G Spot and vaginal axis are distorted, torn, surgically cut, stretched and irrevocably altered. Childbirth, aside from the trauma, is responsible to a large degree for the ensuing sexual dysfunction and anatomical pathology. Cosmetic surgery restores femininity, sexual function, orgasmic response and beauty to this important part of the body.
The most common cosmetic procedure performed is reduction of the labia minora which is torn and enlarges after a vaginal delivery. The perineal muscles are almost always torn or cut resulting in loss of the vaginal axis, gaping vaginal opening, painful intercourse and a diminished or even loss of orgasmic response. The perineum is restored with an outpatient procedure. We can also transfer fat to the mons when the female “mound” is lost after a delivery or weight loss. The clitoris can be made more prominent for greater sensitivity and more profound sexual response. The G spot is not a theory it is a must have for a gratifying orgasmic response. I am a board certified gynecologist and a pelvic reconstruction specialist and I can perform the mommy makeover and vaginal enhancement operations that women want and need.
